Born in Baghdad to an ancient lineage called the Chaldeans (Neo-Babylonians who still speak Aramaic), Weam Namou is an Eric Hoffer award-winning author of over 20 books and a multi-award-winning filmmaker. Her two feature films which she wrote and directed, The Great American Family (a documentary) and Pomegranate (a feature narrative) have won over three dozen awards from around the world including New York, California, New Orleans, France, Amsterdam, Sweden, Italy, and India. In 2024, she received a Kresge Fellowship for directing, and currently, she’s working on her third feature film, a documentary called “The Chaldean American Storyteller.”
